Overview

Nestled in the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges and with views of green rolling hills, Yarragon is a charming country town with an abundance of upmarket shops, pubs and cafes.

History

Yarragon was originally known for its booming timber industry but later became the centre for dairy farms and the former dairy factory still lies north of the railway line. The post office was opened in 1878 when the town was known as ‘Waterloo’, it was renamed Yarragon in 1883.
